Minnesota Sea Grant partnered with KUMD Radio (103.3FM) to produce The Sea Grant Files. The goal of the program is to bring research concerning aquatic systems and coastal communities from the university to the streets.

Each week starting on February 25, 2009, KUMD broadcasts the five to nine minute program. The show is produced and edited by KUMD, which broadcasts from the University of Minnesota Duluth campus and is an independent public radio station offering a mix of community-based programs and jazz. Introductory music is performed by Minnesota artist Michael Monroe.
