Carried Away with Rip Currents
September 2009
by Sea Grant Staff

About 30 people learned about Great Lakes rip currents at a workshop in Duluth this summer. Presentations included information about forecasting Great Lakes rip currents, their mechanics, and rip currents in Lake Superior. It was a stellar day for participants to gather on Park Point to observe shoreline currents firsthand.
You should see all the rip current information we've added to the Minnesota Sea Grant Web site!
Photos and presentations from the 2009 Rip Current Workshop, cosponsored by Minnesota Sea Grant and the National Weather Service office in Duluth, are only the beginning.
Learn about rip currents through audio files, YouTube links, and more. See it all at: www.seagrant.umn.edu/coastal_communities/rip.
