A Guide to Fisheries Stock Assessment: From Data to Recommendations

Fisheries Stock Assessment Guide cover

Stock assessments lay at the heart of virtually all fisheries regulations, providing the information necessary to make sound management choices. For many people affected by those choices, though, the stock assessment process remains mysterious. A new 44-page booklet, A Guide to Fisheries Stock Assessment: From Data to Recommendations, clarifies this process for fishermen, regulators, science journalists, and others interested in the fishing industry.

The guide was written by Andrew Cooper, an assistant professor of natural resources at the University of New Hampshire, and was produced by New Hampshire Sea Grant. Copies are available from Minnesota Sea Grant for $5. To order, look on the products order form, under the fisheries category (item F 23).
