Jeff Gunderson, associate director; Doug Jensen, Aquatic Invasive Species Information Center coordinator; Marie Zhuikov, communications coordinator; Debbie Bowen, information specialist; and several colleagues from Sea Grant programs in Michigan, Illinois-Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin received the outstanding program award from the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network for their work on the HACCP approach to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species by aquaculture and baitfish operations. The award was presented at the network's meeting in Burlington, VT, in June.
Zhuikov; Mike Cousino, former graphic designer; Sharon Moen, editor; and Bowen, received a bronze award for publishing the "Seiche" newsletter in 2002 from the Agricultural Communicators in Education (ACE) Critique and Awards Program. The award was presented at the ACE group's international meeting in Kansas City, MO, in June.
Zhuikov, Cousino, Bowen, and Jensen received a Blue Ribbon award (first place) for their work on the "Exotics to Go!" compact disk from the National Sea Grant Network. The award was presented at the Sea Grant Week 2003 meeting in Galveston, TX, in April.
