Great Lakes Basin Facts and Maps
January 2001
by Sea Grant Staff
Michigan Sea Grant has produced a set of brochures filled with facts about the Great Lakes Basin and its five lakes: Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. The Great Lakes Basin covers topics ranging from general statistics to information about each lake’s shoreline use, economy, ecology, and natural resource and environmental issues.
Five brochures open into 12 x 16-inch maps of each Great Lake and its basin. The map shows the drainage basin, state and provincial boundaries, important cities, Areas of Concern, national parks, and recreation areas. A sixth brochure provides selected facts about the entire Great Lakes Basin and opens into a 17 x 22-inch full-color poster that features a map and a depth and distance profile of the Great Lakes System.
Minnesota Sea Grant sells The Great Lakes Basin brochure set for $3. We are also offering single copies of The Lake Superior Basin fact sheet and map separately for free. To order, see our free order or mail order list, items S 15 or S 16 under the education category.
