Valerie Taylor (left), a naturalist from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Porter, IN, and Kathy Magnusson, a high school teacher from Roseau, MN, take a water quality reading during a Minnesota Sea Grant teachers workshop. “Water, Webs & Widgets” was held in June at the Audubon Center of the Northwoods and the Science Museum of Minnesota. Thirty teachers spent five days handling cutting-edge technology, like Geographic Information System software, Global Positioning System units, and the Water on the Web site, to monitor lakes and rivers.
