Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes Film Screening and Talk

March 9, 2018
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Lake Superior Estuarium
3 Marina Drive
Superior, WI

Join Tim Campbell, aquatic invasive species outreach specialist for University of Wisconsin Extension and Wisconsin Sea Grant, for a free screening of the two-hour documentary, "Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes," followed by a short question-and-answer session.

The film takes viewers below the surface of the world's largest freshwater ecosystem, and into the middle of a complex web of interactions and changes. For more than a century, non-native plants, fish and invertebrates have been silently invading the Great Lakes and are transforming the ecosystem from top to bottom, threatening ecological diversity and local economies.

Making Waves chronicles the path of this invasion to the present day. The filmmakers join researchers on the front lines as they work to understand invasive species and to restore native species in an effort to prevent a biological takeover of the Great Lakes.

The screening is sponsored by the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.
