Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!TM at the Sportshow in Minneapolis

Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!

If you are going to the 79th Annual Northwest Sportshow, which runs from March 30 to April 3 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, make a bee-line for the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!TM booth in Lobby C. It will be hard to miss with jars of invasive species and an Asian carp mount.

Minnesota Sea Grant is teaming up with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources staff to discuss aquatic invasive species challenges with Sportshow visitors as well as to answer the inevitable, "What is that?!" questions.

"I look forward to this annual sportshow," said Doug Jensen, Minnesota Sea Grant's aquatic invasive species program coordinator. "I'm an avid fisherman and I'm passionate about keeping Minnesota waters fishable, which includes keeping them free of invaders like zebra mussels, spiny waterfleas, and silver carp. Visitors are like, 'Wow!' when they see how large the carp can get."

Daily admission for the Northwest Sportshow is $10 for adults 16 and older. Youth 15 and younger are admitted for free. On March 31, seniors 62 and older will receive a discounted admission of $5 for the day.
