Kids Learn about Fishing and SAH!

Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!TM was featured at the 9th Annual Mills Fleet Farm Kid's Fishing Day, July 10 at all eleven store locations across Minnesota. Along with teaching kids basic fishing and water safety skills, nearly 1,200 youth and adults were taught about the threats posed by aquatic invasive species and how to take action at boat accesses to prevent their spread. Experts from Minnesota Sea Grant, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Forever, Sauk River Watershed District, Minnesota Waters, Pelican Lake Association of St. Anna, and Douglas County Lake Association were available to answer questions, show preserved specimens of aquatic invasive species, and hand out free information. Minnesota Sea Grant's student intern Mallory Anderson coordinated staffing as well as staffed the Lakeville store.
