Maritime Living History Event

May 3, 2009
Duluth, MN

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is staging a re-enactment to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the modern St. Lawrence Seaway, which allowed the British-flagged Ramon de Larrinaga to arrive in the Twin Ports on May 3,1959.

Fifty years later, almost to the minute, the 86-ft. tug Edward H. carrying the banner "Ramon de Larrinaga" will cruise under the Aerial Lift Bridge. Join the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center in Duluth's Canal Park at 1:00 p.m. on May 3, 2009 to enjoy the re-enactment.

Free film showings are being offered in the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, located at 600 Lake Ave. South, Duluth, Minnesota. The film is about the St. Lawrence Seaway and will start at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
