Schomberg gave the workshop, "Land Use and Water Quality: a Realtor's Guide," to the Greater Lakes Association of Realtors in Brainerd during January.

Schomberg presented "Protecting Duluth's Streams: New Tools for the Community," to the Skyline Planning and Preservation Alliance in Duluth during November. He also gave the presentation, "Re-establishing Connections to our Waterways" with Melissa Graftaas (American Institute of Architects) at the American Institute of Architects Minnesota's annual convention in Minneapolis during November.

Schomberg organized the Making a Great Lake Superior Conference 2007 held in Duluth at the DECC during October, and gave the presentation, "Assessing Beach User's Knowledge of Rip Currents in Lake Superior." He also presented the poster, "Hands-On Activities Help Communities Understand Role of Individuals and Local Governments in Protecting Lake Superior," with Cindy Hagley, environmental quality educator, as a co-author.

Schomberg earned an early career service award from the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network at the Great Lakes Sea Grant Network Conference held during September in Chicago, IL. The award was presented for his outstanding accomplishments on the job.
